We went to one village, where the Africans just stare at you in amazement (for they have never seen a white person before.) We ended up camping outside the witchdoctor’s house by accident that night. At this village we sang songs, preached the gospel, and prayed for healing. God really came down and many people came to the Lord. Hallelujah! One amazing breakthrough was that the witchdoctor not only was healed from cataracts in his eyes, but he accepted Christ as his Savior. Once that happened it was like there was a breakthrough for the entire community. Many people received healing as well, almost every single person who went to see the medical team received the Lord, rebuked the witchcraft and received healing for their sickness. God is so awesome.
One of the nights Chrystal was sharing her testimony and a dream she had for the Africans and there was a holy hush in the crowd. Afterwards so many people came to Christ we felt like that in itself was the reason we came to Africa. We could leave now and I would feel so accomplished. God already has done so much through and in us during this time. We emerged ourselves in the culture as much as we could. Chrystal has come a very long way in Portuguese (Even to the point she sometimes interprets.) Ben is learning Macua (Mozembique's heart language.)
We have become good friends with some of the Mozambiquen pastors who are also attending Bible college. What is so great about Iris Ministries is that they disciple pastors and then when we go to these villages the pastors go and diciple the village and help set up a church. So you don’t just hit and run leaving people high and dry. It is so powerful to see a Mozambiquen lead the other Mozambiquen's.
Ben was amazing with the children. He literally had a following of 50 kids wherever he went. (They especially liked his frog impression.) |
